The highly competitive nature of the pump industry requires constant technological improvements to both pump design and performance to meet the needs of today's modern applications. Pump design is tied to its intended use and the design criteria may include reduced noise level/power consumption, ability to fit into a restricted space, and/or improved efficiency and reliability. This webinar will significantly help pump manufacturers and designers to address some of these important design considerations. Veteran pump industry expert Dr. David Japikse will help bring attendees up-to-date on methodologies for cost effective pump design to meet high performance over a wide operating range.
Traditionally, companies may make modifications to the pump design without fully considering the ramifications. For example, just redesigning the impeller with an existing housing may not lead to achieving optimum performance for that pump. Webinar attendees will learn how pump performance improvements can be achieved by utilizing various techniques including:
- Creating full-featured pump designs
- Improving inlets and/or blade shapes
- Utilizing diffusers
- Reducing losses in the return channel/continuous crossover
- Increasing design stability via vane shapes and/or diffuser/volute design
- Working with a better motor design

This webinar will demonstrate the use of CFturbo and PumpLinx for the complete CAE design and testing of pumps. With a seamless link between CFturbo and PumpLinx, the two packages enable a complete virtual design and testing process. The demonstration includes pump requirements such as size, efficiency, flow rates and head, and uses CFturbo to create a virtual prototype. A full 3D CFD model will be run in real-time. Finally, decision-enabling engineering output and cavitation damage prediction will be presented. Pump professionals of all kinds are encouraged to attend the Webinar, sponsored by Simerics, CFturbo and Mechanical Solutions, Inc.
