Reynolds Number
Toggle- This basic calculator allows you to quickly determine the Reynolds Number which describes the type of flow (laminar or turbulent) in a volumetrically full pipeline. When Re is less than 2000 flow is laminar and above 4000 it is turbulent. The range in between is considered transitional and can be laminar, turbulent, or a hybrid of the two.
- Re is the Reynolds number, V is the average pipe velocity, D is the inside pipe diameter, p is liquid density, and u is liquid dynamic (or absolute) viscosity.
